Facebook Celebrates Women in Computing with Grace Hopper Scholarship

Jocelyn Goldfein

UPDATE: We are extending the deadline for the Facebook Grace Hopper Scholarship to Sunday, 6/16.

It's that time again--the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing is right around the corner and here at Facebook, we're gearing up for our sixth year of participating in one of the biggest and most successful conferences for technical women.

Beginning today, female university students excelling in computer science can apply for one of 25 scholarships to attend the Grace Hopper conference with Facebook in Minneapolis from October 2nd - 5th, 2013. The theme for this year's conference is "Think Big. Drive Forward.," and will offer incredible opportunities for mentoring, networking, and technical and career development.

Over my last three years at Facebook, we've made significant strides in advancing the cause of women in technology through various programs and initiatives. I'm proud of my many colleagues' voices in this issue, both male and female, and even prouder that I work for a company that is just as passionate about this issue as I am. This scholarship program is one of Facebook’s many commitments to increasing the number of women in engineering.

I look forward to speaking at the conference along with technologists from around the world as we work to strengthen our community and further the dialogue about the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
